The city of Varanasi, also known as Benares and Kashi, is located on the banks of Ganges River in the state of Uttar Pradesh (hereinafter referred to as “UP”) and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world today, and therefore needs no introduction to its tangible and intangible heritage. Given the above background, the need for development of a multipurpose hall was felt which will serve as a showcase of Varanasi’s craft, culture (both tangible and intangible) as an additional attraction for tourists and serve as a state-of-the-art Auditorium/ Multipurpose hall to host variety of cultural / official engagements and ceremonies like marriages etc.
The Auditorium cum Banquet Hall facility is a centrally air conditioned Hall with following facilities

  • Air Conditioned Hall
  • Green Room with Attached Toilet
  • VIP Room with Attached Toilet
  • Pre Function Area (2 in No.)
  • Ladies and gents Toilets
  • Panel Room
  • Backside small hall and rooms on first floor

In general, facilities and equipment of the theatre have been designed according to the expected programs. Varanasi has historically been the Centre of cultural activities and was nominated as UNESCO’s Creative City of Music; therefore, the Sankul is planned mainly to be a showcase of the traditional music, dance and plays of India. At the same time, in order to realize the high frequency of use, Sankul will also be used for conferences, seminars, community activities, and school events, based on the demand in Varanasi. The USP of This project is that it is centrally located and uses state of art technologies. The high end acoustic hall is very well suited for classical programs.
